ASAP Anglicanly

ASAP means many things to different people. As Soon As Possible or Always Say A Prayer. In this presentation ASAP takes on a different meaning. Abiding in Christ through prayer and the word. Seeking the lost through entry and evangelism. Applying God’s word through discipleship and leadership development. Planting healthy reproducing churches, where healthy, growing Christians are reproducing themselves and the church, through modeling and equipping.

With ASAP principles expounded upon, we move into looking at how ASAP can be practiced in the Anglican context. Specific tools that help one abide include the Daily Office either through the Book of Common Prayer or an app on your phone. Using the Daily Office with new believers is a great start in helping them begin to establish rhythms in knowing, loving, and serving Christ. Additionally, the Church calendar is a global and historical tool to help Anglicans remember the life of Christ and the Church.

Doing missions Anglicanly helps us bring the streams of Anglicanism together. Sharing the gospel, in the power of the Holy Spirit, with deeds of love. Blending both the Word and good deeds in love as we live and share the gospel.

The application of God’s Word in the Anglican context involves the Catechism. Learning and growing in our understanding of the creeds, the Our Father, the 10 commandments. The Book of Common Prayer again playing a key role in helping the laity understand their roles and responsibilities and perhaps even move some towards seeking holy orders.

Planting Anglicanly enables us to balance the Word and the Table. The liturgy helps keep the focus on the formation of believers helping them to grow in their understanding of the Word and being empowered to be sent out into their communities as they partake in the Real Presence.
