It’s Easter. Again. How do I know? Because this Sunday, each and every church sign will say so. Yeah, you know. Same words once again, stating the obvious. And that’s swell if we want to remind those who already know. I started noticing these church signs years ago and asking myself what was their intent and for whom. That triggered my thinking, which is safe since I don’t have a church sign.
We could use a bit of imagination. Can’t we say the same thing but in a way that might turn some minds to thinking? I believe so. Putting up words with a slightly different angle might make some people see Easter differently.
Here are some phrases that come to my mind:
- Someone didn’t like his grave, so he got up and left it.
- Came back to life, did he? Certainly hope that won’t happen to my mother-in-law.
- Good thing they didn’t cremate him.
- All this from four writers 2000 years ago. You’re kidding, right?
- Well, he deserves something good after the way they killed him.
- Grave diggers insist no more resurrections.
- Guess who knows the teams in the Final Four?
- Did anyone ask him about coming back? I mean, has he read the news lately?
- What beats death after death?
- OK, OK. So how does he beam me up? Answer: Look at him and tell him you’re sorry.
