Mere Anglicanism is an event-oriented ministry that provides the tools and resources to disciple, train, and educate lay and clergy leaders for the renewal of biblical and orthodox Anglicanism within North America. Mere Anglicanism brings in theologians and thinkers who help Anglicans become deeper thinkers, more informed Christians, and better-equipped leaders. This year’s annual conference, held in Charleston S.C. from January 28th -30th, was titled “The Cross & the Crescent: the Gospel and the challenge of Islam”. The sold-out conference brought in an array of national and international speakers covering a wide range of topics, all of which focused on Islam and the challenges it poses to spreading Gospel.
Our Executive Director, the Reverend Chris Royer, was the featured preacher at the Choral Evensong service on Thursday the 28th as well for the Festival Eucharist on Friday the 29th. Chris also moderated a panel discussion with the conference speakers to close out the conference.
Besides The Rev. Chris Royer, AFM was well-represented at the conference with Board Chairwoman Mrs. Constance McDearmon, Board Secretary Mrs. Dorothy Saucier, M.D., and Mrs. Dixie Goertermiller. Also attending the meeting were past and present AFM cross-cultural workers as well as friends of AFM. A reunion luncheon was held during the conference to bring all the attending AFM family members together.
We thank God the time of renewal and challenge at this conference and pray that God would continue to call his church to go where the church is not, especially to the 1.6 billion Muslims unreached with Gospel!
