Tad de Bordenave On Mission

Founder and first director of Anglican Frontier Missions, Tad de Bordenave shares some of the unique distinctives of AFM.

AFM was formed to go where the church is not established. We work in the places the church has overlooked. We go where few missionaries have gone, to countries and to people groups where there is no bishop or institution to welcome cross-cultural workers. These circumstances mean we have to go in non-traditional ways working in non-traditional avenues to become established among a frontier people group.

Initially, among frontier peoples, the way of life, the religion, the culture are more challenging for westerners to navigate. Getting to frontier peoples tends to be much more difficult because of the remote or unsafe areas in which they live.

Yet, Jesus loves these people. He grieves they do not have easy access to Him. He died for them so that He would be the way they enter into a relationship with their Creator God. He died to free them from the destructive forces of evil. The Church is called to go and make disciples to the ends of the earth, baptizing them, and teaching all peoples to obey the commands of God. Believing God’s love is for all and He has promised never to leave or forsake us AFM strives to take the love of Christ to people who have not yet heard.

Still, today, there are over 4,500 people groups composed of more than 2 billion people who have not yet heard of the grace and mercy of God extended to humanity through the life saving work of Jesus Christ. The work is slow, but through prayer, obedience, and boldness God has done and will continue to do a great work among these people groups.

AFM works to raise awareness of an unfinished charge God has given His people, to make His name known to the ends of the earth.
