Mission Control: AFM Prayer Team

Prayer drawing

AFM’s Prayer Teams consist of groups of individuals throughout the world who regularly meet for prayer.  At the AFM Office in Richmond, Virginia, our team not only prays for AFM missionaries and those they serve, but they also “beam” in missionaries via Skype to join them.  “It is amazing to be in company with such awesome prayer warriors. I can’t help but walk away with a stronger faith” said Treva Houser.

Our prayer coordinator, Valerie Sweat, gathers, formats, and distributes prayer and praise requests from AFM missionaries, staff, board, and the local churches connected with AFM. She sees the role of prayer like a roundabout: all our ministry ‘traffic’ flows through prayer.

Treva Houser, our former prayer coordinator (and now office administrator), witnessed during a two-week trip to Southeast Asia the important role of prayer and worship in frontier mission. Her team did a prayer walk through an area with very little Christian presence.  It was in the crowded alleyways of this impoverished, marginalized ethnic group that Treva met Serin.  Serin is an Indian Christian called by God to serve the Rabari people group.  Since their first meeting, this dear Christian worker had been bedridden from a rickshaw accident, so Treva established a prayer partnership with Serin through skype and email– a remarkable, trans-continental prayer partnership!  Today, not only is Serin up and mobile, but Treva and Serin continue to witness God answering prayers throughout India . . . and the world!

If you are interested in joining an AFM Prayer Team, starting your own AFM Prayer Team, or have a prayer request you’d like us to pray for, please contact Valerie at info@afm-us.org.
